About the Victus

Victus is HP's more affordable gaming line. It shares the Omen's appetite for heat, and a cooling service is the most useful thing that can be done for one that has slowed down or become noisy.

Every repair starts with a free assessment and a fixed price. Nothing is done until you approve it, and repairs carry a 3-month warranty.

Screens

Gaming panels are matched by refresh rate as well as size and resolution, so a 144Hz or 165Hz screen is replaced with the same.

Batteries

The battery sits inside the case and is held by screws. We fit the correct part number and check that it charges and reports properly.

Keyboards and trackpads

The keyboard is fixed into the palm rest, so the two are replaced together as a top case. Trackpads are replaced separately.

Charging and power

Loose or broken DC charging sockets are replaced, and charging circuit faults are repaired on the motherboard.

Motherboard and liquid damage

No power, no display and liquid damage are repaired at component level wherever parts are available, instead of replacing the whole board.

Upgrades

Memory and storage are both accessible on most Victus models, so SSD and RAM upgrades are straightforward.

Cooling

Fans and heatsinks are cleaned, thermal compound renewed and worn fans replaced. Performance laptops benefit most from regular cooling service.

Look on the base, or under the battery on older models, for the model code, for example "15-eg0003na", and the product number, which looks like "2Q2V9EA#ABU". Send us that with a description of the fault and we reply with a price, normally the same working day.

Common questions

My HP Victus laptop runs hot and loud. Is that normal?

Warm, yes. Shutting down or losing performance, no. A cooling service with new thermal compound normally restores it.

Will a replacement screen match the original refresh rate?

Yes. We match the panel by size, resolution and refresh rate, so you get the same specification back.
