Data recovery services
When the device can be replaced but the files cannot. We recover data from failed hard drives, SSDs, memory cards, RAID and NAS units, and from systems hit by ransomware, for customers across the UK.

Recovery is a different job from repair
Repairing a computer gets the machine working. Recovering data gets the files back, whether or not the machine ever works again. When a drive has failed, been formatted or been encrypted, recovery comes first, because every further attempt to use it can reduce what is left to save.
We work on drives with PC-3000, the professional recovery system used by data recovery laboratories. It lets us talk to a failing drive at firmware level and copy it sector by sector under controlled conditions, which ordinary software cannot do.
Recovery starts with a professional evaluation, charged at £94.80. It tells you what has failed and what can be recovered, and you then receive a fixed price for the recovery itself.
If you have just lost data
- Stop using the drive. Every write risks overwriting the files you want back.
- If it clicks, beeps or was dropped, switch it off and leave it off.
- Do not run CHKDSK, accept a format prompt or install recovery software on a drive that is physically failing.
- Do not open the drive. The inside of a hard drive must stay free of dust.
- Do not put it in the freezer. It is an old myth and it causes condensation damage.
- After a ransomware attack, disconnect the affected machines from the network and do not wipe anything yet.
How it works
- Tell us what happened. The device, the fault and the files that matter most. A technician replies, normally the same working day.
- Send the drive. By insured courier, by tracked post or in person.
- Evaluation. We establish what has failed and what can be recovered, and give you a fixed price.
- Recovery and return. Once you approve, we recover the data and return it to you on a new drive.
Common questions
How much does data recovery cost?
The evaluation is £94.80. The recovery price depends on what has failed, and you receive it as a fixed figure after the evaluation, before any recovery work is done.
How long does it take?
It depends on the fault. A healthy drive with deleted files is quick. A drive with failed heads or a large RAID takes longer. We give you a realistic timescale with the price.
Is my data kept confidential?
Yes. Creative IT (UK) Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration ZA060744. See confidentiality and data protection.
Can you also repair the laptop or PC the drive came from?
Yes. Recovery and repair are done in the same workshop, and we can quote for both.
