Xbox Series X and Series S repair
HDMI faults, no power, overheating, disc drives and storage on the current Xbox consoles.

What goes wrong
As with other consoles, the HDMI socket is the part most often damaged, followed by the chip directly behind it that drives the picture. Either gives a console that runs normally with a black screen.
The Series X is a tall, dense machine that pulls air through from bottom to top. Stood in a closed cabinet or left to collect dust, it overheats and shuts down.
Repairs
HDMI port and no picture
Socket replacement and repair of the HDMI circuit on the motherboard.
No power
Internal power supply and board-level faults.
Overheating
Cleaning, fan replacement and new thermal compound.
Disc drive
Series X drives that will not read or eject. The drive's own board is kept, because it is matched to the console.
Storage
Internal SSD faults, and start-up errors that point to storage.
Liquid damage
Board cleaning and component repair.
Your saves and data
Xbox saves are copied to the cloud automatically whenever the console is online, at no extra cost. If the console fails, signing in on another Xbox brings them back. For that reason saves are rarely at risk on an Xbox.
What stays on the console are installed games, which can be downloaded again, and any captures that were not uploaded. If there is something on the console you cannot replace, tell us before the repair.
Sending a console
- Take out any disc or game card, and remove memory cards you want to keep at home.
- Send the console itself and its power lead. Controllers are only needed if they are part of the fault.
- Box it with at least 5cm of padding on every side. The original box alone is not enough protection.
- Add a note with your name, phone number and what the console does. Include your sign-in PIN if one is set.
We collect by insured courier from anywhere in the UK, or you can bring it to the workshop in London SE1. Every repair starts with a free assessment and a fixed price, and carries a 3-month warranty. See console repair prices and how the courier service works.
Common questions
Do I lose my games if the console is repaired?
No. Repairs to HDMI, power or cooling do not affect storage, and your purchases are tied to your account in any case.
My Series X shows error E100 or E200. What does that mean?
These are start-up errors, often related to system software or storage. Note the full code and send it with the console.
