About the Prestige, Modern and Summit
Not every MSI is a gaming laptop. These ranges are slim, light and aimed at office and creative work. Upgrade options vary by model.
Every repair starts with a free assessment and a fixed price. Nothing is done until you approve it, and repairs carry a 3-month warranty.
Prestige, Modern and Summit repairs
Screens
We replace cracked and faulty Prestige, Modern and Summit screens with a panel matched to the original size, resolution and connector.
Batteries
The battery sits inside the case and is held by screws. We fit the correct part number and check that it charges and reports properly.
Keyboards and trackpads
The keyboard is fixed into the palm rest, so the two are replaced together as a top case. Trackpads are replaced separately.
Charging and power
Depending on the model, charging is through a DC socket or USB-C. Either port can be replaced, and charging circuits are repaired on the board.
Motherboard and liquid damage
No power, no display and liquid damage are repaired at component level wherever parts are available, instead of replacing the whole board.
Upgrades
Upgrade options vary across the Prestige, Modern and Summit range: some models have memory slots, others are soldered. We check yours before quoting.
Sending your Prestige, Modern and Summit
The base label shows the marketing name, such as "Katana GF66 12UD", and an internal model beginning "MS-", such as "MS-1583". Send us that with a description of the fault and we reply with a price, normally the same working day.

Common questions
Can the memory or SSD be upgraded?
It depends on the exact model. Many thin laptops have soldered memory, and some have soldered storage too. Send us the model number and we will tell you what is possible.
Is the battery replaceable?
Yes. The battery is inside the case, but it can be replaced in the workshop with the correct part.
